The digitization of the Spectator archives has transformed crumbling volumes and fuzzy microfilm into an accessible, accurate resource that will last far into the future. The project is the result of a partnership between the Spectator and Columbia University Libraries. It was made possible by funding from the Libraries and through generous gifts from Spectator alumni and friends, especially members of the class of 1958. The digitization project began in 2010 when Ernest Brod '58, Bernard Nussbaum '58, and friends of the class of 1958 seeded the project with a $25,000 donation.
